Text Challenge

The challenge of the day at SplitCoast yesterday was to use text on your card. I went looking through my papers, sure I had some background paper with text on it, and actually found I had this paper in two different colors! I used the set Quilter's Sampler from Papertrey Ink and a quote stamp that I had on hand.

Yesterday we had wild storms and rain all day again, thus no outside lighting for my photo. Today we have blistering heat. The newspaper reported that we have had nearly six inches of rain this month, and we average less than two inches in past years. I would just like some cooler days when we don't have rain. We seem to go from one extreme to the next and neither is fun.

I took the kids to a living history museum near us today and it was too hot for the kids. You know that is bad! My kids do not generally complain about the weather and just go with the flow of things. We did not even eat lunch there, as we usually do. It seems this season they have closed the indoor restaurant and moved it outside where an ice cream shop used to be. Seriously? Who wants to sit out in the heat to eat a sandwich? It's tough times for everyone I suppose.

We are going to Holiday World for the weekend to enjoy their water park. I am hoping the water is as cold as ice.

Living on the Edge

First up is this little cutie from Papertrey Ink, the Quilter's Sampler set. I rotated the sketch to make it work for me. I don't know where the quote came from, it's a random stamp I picked up somewhere a long time ago. I purposefully did not add a ribbon to this card. I tend to think all cards need a touch of texture, which is easily found in ribbon, but I decided not to add ribbon today. Living on the edge, I am! The paper is from PTI (Dark Chocolate) and an SU Variety pack.

And who can resist these little Doodle Factory monsters from Starving Artistamps? I love these creatures. I ordered the whole set for myself for Mother's Day. At less than 25 bucks I get about 8 or 10 creatures in both the large and small sizes. Score! I used paper from Basic Grey.
Not much is going on. After a couple of beautiful days we now have another dark and gloomy day. I am headed to my friend Jenny's house to pick up items to sell in our neighborhood garage sale this weekend. I have very little to sell, so I am glad I get Jenny's loot, too. She is moving, so she should have a lot to donate to my cause. Now I need to find friends and neighbors with tables I can borrow so I have somewhere to place all the loot.

Out on a Limb

SplitCoast has their Wednesday Sketch Challenge in full swing and I am offering up for your interest my entry. The stamps are all from Ppapertrey Ink. I used their Out on a Limb set as well as a bird from Birds of a Feather. The quote says " The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you." I wasn't sure when to stp adding embellishments to this card. I hope I stopped before I totally went overboard. I think the card is tasteful, not tacky.
It will likely be several days before I blog again. The kids have Fall Break from school for the next few days and we are headed out to a weekend get away with them. We decided to go to Louisville and see the Louisville Slugger factory and check out Mammoth Caves. Scott is more interested in the caves than I am, but I am a good sport. Plus the kids have never been to see them. Well, at least not that they can remember. Noah is very excited about the get away. This is definitely a trip we planned with his interests in mind.
Years ago Scott and I drove to Florida and he told me as soon as we left the house that we were driving with a destination in mind and not stopping to lollygag along the way. That lasted all of two hours until we got to Kentucky and he started to see ads for Mammoth Cave. He started to tell me how he'd always wanted to go and his parents would never stop, whine, whine, whine. So we stopped and he was very happy. My revenge came on the way home when I made him take a detour to Plains, Georgia. We liked both side trips enough that we have returned to both of those places and even have a beautiful photo of Jimmy Carter holding a baby Noah.
I don't know what is up with blogger, but I seem to have lost the ability to make paragraphs. Yes, I do know where they are needed, I just cannot seem to make them happen. It's an odd blogging quirk. Sometimes I can make paragraphs, sometimes not.
